Individual Consultations

Weight loss and weight management

I am passionate about supporting people to lose weight. I understand the many reasons why people struggle to lose weight, and will work with you to put strategies in place to help you overcome your barriers to losing weight. To help prevent putting the lost weight back on again, it is important to consider how you can keep on track with continuing your weight loss / maintaining your weight longer term. To help support you, I offer a ‘weight loss package’ which represents excellent value for money. The package includes an initial face-to-face consultation, a face-to-face follow up consultation, two telephone consultations and email support. Consultations can be scheduled to suit your requirements.

I am experienced in supporting people with diabetes to make healthier dietary and lifestyle changes, to help keep your diabetes in check and reduce your risk of long term complications. Having twice suffered from gestational diabetes, I have first-hand appreciation and experience of what it’s like to cope with the diet and lifestyle changes required to manage diabetes.

High cholesterol / raised lipids

If you have raised cholesterol / raised lipids, you will no doubt be concerned that this puts you at increased risk of heart disease and stroke. Long term improvements in diet and lifestyle play a vital part in improving your lipid profile. If you wish to improve your cholesterol levels and lipid profile, I can help you to make positive improvements to your diet and lifestyle.

Allergy & intolerance

If you have a confirmed allergy or intolerance, I can provide sound, clear and understandable advice regarding what you can eat and what you should avoid. I will tailor this advice to your current diet, likes and dislikes, and teach you what to look for on food labels, and well as covering cooking tips and recipes. If you have a suspected allergy or intolerance, I can assess your symptoms in relation to food, and provide advice on what to avoid as appropriate. I provide advice to adults, as well as infants and children, e.g. milk allergies and lactose intolerance.

Gastrointestinal disorders

If you have a gastrointestinal disorder, such as Coeliac disease, Crohns disease, Ulcerative Colitis or constipation, I can help you to ensure you are having a healthy balanced diet and control your symptoms.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)

IBS is a complex syndrome and sufferers experience a very wide range of symptoms. For this reason, advice will be tailored to your own personal symptoms. I will review your dietary intake and symptoms, and provide advice to help promote improvements. I also offer advice on the low FODMAPS diet for IBS.

Nutrition for Infants and Children

I have experience in providing advice on a variety of infant nutrition related issues, such as general healthy eating (e.g. meal ideas, healthy packed lunches, weight concerns), weaning (including baby-led weaning, traditional weaning, meal and recipe ideas), fussy eating, faltering growth (failure to thrive) and constipation. I am CRB checked (enhanced disclosure). Please contact me to discuss your requirements.

Women’s Health

I am experienced in providing advice on a range of women’s health issues, including Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), pre-conception advice, antenatal nutrition (pregnancy), post-natal nutrition, and the menopause.

Artificial tube feeding

I am experienced in assessing and advising clients requiring artificial tube feeding, such as PEG (Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy), NG (nasogastic) and jejunostomy feeding. If you would like a personal, professional service, where you can decide how frequently you would like input, you may wish to consider a private consultation.

Malnutrition and building up advice

I am experienced in assessing and advising on any issues around malnutrition and building up.

Locations and prices

Many people prefer to have a consultation in the comfort of their own home via a telephone or online consultation. You may simply want a comprehensive answer to a nutrition related question you have.  Appointment times and lengths can be pre-arranged as required. Please contact me with some basic information about your condition and requirements, and I will provide details on price and availability for you. For more information, please click here.

Prior to your appointment

Please contact me by telephone or email to discuss your requirements, or to discuss how I can help you. If you wish to book a consultation, I will email you a self-referral form to complete and send back to me. For certain conditions, I may also ask you to complete a 3-day food diary which, if required, needs to be returned to me at least 48 hours in advance of the consultation. Depending on your dietary requirements / condition, I may need to contact your GP before or after your consultation. This is to make sure that your clinician is aware of the advice I have given, and to make sure I have all the information required to provide the highest level of care.

Cancellation policy

Should you no longer require your appointment, please provide at least 48 hours notice. If you fail to turn up for you appointment, or if your consultation is cancelled with less than 24 hours notice, 50% of the consultation fee will be payable.

Health Insurance

I am registered with Simply Health, AXA PPP, Aviva and Pru Health. Please check with your insurance company to confirm whether the level of cover you have includes Dietitian consultancy. If you are claiming your consultation fees through health insurance not named above, you will need to pay by online transfer in advance of your consultation or by cash at your appointment. You will then need to claim a refund through your insurance company.

Gift Vouchers

Gift vouchers are available if you would like to purchase any of Expert Dietitian’s services for a friend of relative, e.g. consultations and dietary analysis. This would make a fantastic unique gift or birthday present. Please email me to request a gift voucher for any or my services. Gift vouchers are valid for 6 months from date of purchase.

Computerised Dietary Analysis

Dietary analysis will help to identify any dietary deficiencies, without the need for invasive bloods or ‘special’ tests which have little evidence base. Please contact me to discuss your specific requirements. Upon receipt of payment, a food diary will emailed so you can record your dietary intake. Email your completed food diary to and your diet will be analysed using professional dietary analysis software ‘Nutritics’. A complete breakdown of macronutrients (e.g. protein, fat, fibre) and micronutrients (e.g. iron, calcium, folic acid, vitamins) will be done, along with a comparison of your dietary intake with your nutrient requirements. You will be provided with a pdf report by email, and telephone feedback (5 minutes) is included if required. Please contact me to discuss your requirements and prices.

About Me

I graduated from the University of Southampton in 2003, with a first class honours degree in Physiology with Nutrition. I went on to complete a Postgraduate Diploma in Dietetics in Cardiff, leading to State Registration as a Dietitian with the Health and Care Professions Council. I am also a member of the British Dietetic Association (BDA). Since qualifying as a Dietitian in 2005, I have worked in various roles within the NHS, before setting up my own private practice in 2013. I have gained experience in a very wide range of dietetics and conditions, including weight management, diabetes, allergy and intolerance, malnutrition and nutritional deficiencies.
In the last three years, I have specialised in the following areas:
  • Infant & toddler nutrition (including infant feeding, weaning, healthy eating and childhood obesity)
  • Health Promotion — working with local organisations to promote healthy eating and optimum nutrition, resource development and training
  • Nutritional support, including building up advice, effective use of nutritional supplementation and artificial feeding (e.g. PEG and nasogastric (NG) feeding)
  • Providing bespoke training courses and workshops
  • Sports nutrition (more recently)
Since qualifying, I have undertaken a number of training courses, including 'Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS)', which is an initial teaching qualification, Paediatric Dietetics Module 1 and a Postgraduate Certificate in Sports Nutrition with Distinction (2015). As well as seeing patients privately, I have a growing portfolio of project work. I am currently a consultant Dietitian for a local Council on a project to improve nutrition and healthy eating for Early Years settings. I write articles for the British Heart Foundation, and also various websites. I am also a consultant Dietitian for Slim & Save, supporting clients on maintaining their weight after completing the diet. For your peace of mind, I have an Enhanced DSB Certificate. I am also a busy mum of three and enjoy the challenge of balancing my work and home life. The children provide lots of opportunities to practice my own advice, such as managing child and infant nutrition, including weaning and healthy eating!
